Not That Kind of ... 'Book'?
Brooklyn Heights local; filmmaker and creator of the HBO hit series “Girls” Lena Dunham, is making headline news. Most recently, in October, Random House offered her a $3.7 million dollar advance for advice book entitled “Not That Kind of Girl”. Dunham, 26, pitched the book using an impressive 66-page book proposal. During the New Yorker Festival at the Brooklyn warehouse, she spoke in depth about her plans for the book. The book offers “essays about sex, mortality and food” just as the HBO series airs its second season this January. The on-sale date has not yet been released.
Not without criticism, the high paid advance is getting backlash from the publishing world where most advances are only in the mere thousands. Many question if Dunham’s writing abilities are truly worth ‘$56,000-per-page’. “Not That Kind of Girl” marks the Emmy Award Winner's first book.
